IBM to Set up R&D Center in Taiwan for Power Systems Development

IBM announced the opening of a R&D center in Taiwan on March 24, 2011, according to the Commercial Times of Taiwan. It is reported that the new R&D center will concentrate on the development of IBM's Power Systems enterprise server. Leveraging Taiwan's human resources and supply chain system, it is projected that IBM aims to tap into the fast-growing server demand in China. With the establishment of the new R&D center, IBM Taiwan is estimated to add additional 10% of high-end engineers, and total software and hardware R&D staff of IBM Taiwan will exceed 1,000 by the end of 2011.
